Starting balances
Copy these straight off the leave and earnings statement. Everything is in hours. The planner credits every pay period that ends after the as-of date below, so use the date of the statement you are reading from.
Comp time and credit hours with real expiration dates go in the Log tab instead, so the planner can warn you before they lapse. The two boxes here are for a simple lump balance with no deadline.
Accrual
Annual leave accrues once per pay period. Sick leave accrues 4 hours per pay period at every tier, with no ceiling.
Fill this in and the planner bumps you to the next accrual tier automatically on the day you cross 3 or 15 years, mid-forecast. Leave it blank to hold the tier above for the whole window.
Work schedule
This decides what a day off actually costs you.
Schedule typeSaving your data
Puts a prompt in front of the dashboard so a casual visitor to the URL does not just read it. It is a curtain, not a lock: the data still sits in the page, and anyone determined can get past it. Do not rely on it, and do not reuse a password you use anywhere else. It is stored as a hash. That hash does go to the database if you are using one, so the prompt also appears on your phone and not just on the computer that set it, but it is never written into a downloaded backup. Anyone who has the web address can still read the data with a browser's developer tools, so this stops a casual look and nothing more.
Planned time off
Each trip charges only the days you would actually have worked. Weekends, your regular day off, federal holidays and anything on the exclusion list are skipped automatically.
Two-year calendar
Tap any day to add it to a trip, mark it excluded, or clear it. Each marked day carries a letter as well as a colour.
Annual leave balance, month by month
The dashed line is the carryover cap. Anything above it on the last day of a leave year is forfeited. Purple dots close out a leave year.
Leave year summary
A federal leave year is not the calendar year. It runs from the first full pay period in January to the day before the next one.

Every month, every number
Start balance, what you earn, what you are gifted, what each trip costs, and where you land. Purple rows close out a leave year.
Scroll sideways for more columns. On a narrow screen some derived columns are hidden; the CSV export has all of them.
Pay period ledger
The same forecast at pay period resolution, which is how payroll actually sees it. Each row shows the balance as it stood at the close of that pay period.
Gifted leave
Donated leave, a time-off award, or anything else credited outside normal accrual. 8 hours is one day.
Comp time and credit hours
Comp time must be used within 26 pay periods of the period it was earned. Credit hours carry no deadline, but a full-time employee may only carry 24 of them from one pay period to the next. The planner warns you before either one lapses, and marks anything that has already lapsed.
Restored leave
Forfeited annual leave that was restored has to be used by the end of the leave year that ends two years after restoration. It sits outside the carryover cap.
Extra days off
Admin dismissal, a snow day, an unexpected office closure, anything that falls inside a trip but should not cost leave.
Federal holidays
Worked out from the statutory rules for any year, so this never runs out. A holiday on a Saturday is observed the Friday before and one on a Sunday the Monday after. If the observed day then lands on your regular day off, you get an in lieu of day on the workday before, shown beside it. Untick anything your agency does not observe.
Accrual, carryover, leave year and holiday rules follow OPM published policy.
This is a planning tool. Your leave and earnings statement is the record of truth.
